Social media and positive influence
If we would have a look at everyone’s social media accounts we would see that everyone is living their best life, having life figured out, is happy,... you probably see where I am going with this.
But we don’t. And that’s ok. Because every time we are pushed into a new uncertain adventure, we grow.
Social media does not have to be a place for comparison. Instead, you can use it as a place for inspiration. Are you planning a new trip? Check out the places that you should visit. Need new outfit ideas? Browse for inspiration.
And I know that sometimes it's hard to see someone else's story and we can't help but ask ourselves, why am I not there? For example, you see a beautiful photo of someone's vacation from the Maldives. Dream, right? But would your life be so much better? Well if your answer is yes, then go for it, but if you’ve realized that it wouldn’t make any difference then maybe that is not your dream.
What are your goals? What is the thing you want to achieve? Don’t compare your story to someone else’s story. You are your own story and that’s the best part!
Sounds easy right? Not really, but here are some tips to get you started are some tips on how to create a more friendly social media space.
Set your intentions
One of the most important questions you have to ask yourself is why do you want to spend time on social media? What is your goal?
Maybe you want to share your content with other people, interact with family and friends, or follow some account for inspiration. Whatever it is go for it and create your perfect flow.
Follow the account that inspires your
Once you will figure out your purpose, it will be easier to decide what kind of content and accounts you want to follow. We can easily get wrapped in the never-ending circle of comparing, feeling sad, etc. Remember that accounts and content you want to follow is not there to put you in bad mood but to remind you of what your interests are, and what goals you want to achieve and to put you in a good mood. Someone is traveling to Hawaii and is sharing their experience? Save it in your collection list and revisit it when you finally book your dream vacation to Hawaii.
Sharing the content
The first thing you should probably think about is whether you want to keep your account private or public. Make the decision you are comfortable with and share the content you are passionate about. It could be highlights from your every day, photos of food, pets, holidays, your drawings, … Be creative.
Don’t worry about the number of likes your photo gets. Some photos might perform better than others, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are better. It also has a lot to do with Instagram algorithm, unless you’re using your Instagram account for business, you don’t have to worry about it.
What do all successful accounts have in common? No, it’s not a big following but passion. Create and share the content that you’re passionate about and that you truly like like. Have fun creating it and stay true to yourself.
